Sun care – An indispensable practice
Living in a tropical country is not easy where the Sun is more visible and the days last longer. With the pollution spawning more complex environmental hazards, the sun rays are not filtered through the atmosphere as they once were. Hence the harmful UV rays directly touch our skin. Hence it is very necessary to take sun care.
Sun care does not only involve usage of skin protecting crème. The user has to keep in mind the crème should carry certain properties. It should have proper PH balance and should also have an added property of SPF 15 and above. Our body produces melanin which helps us to protect our skin against the sun. The SPF balance in the sun screen crèmes helps us to retain the balance of melanin.
There are several sun screen lotions available in the market. But one should not just pick any sunscreen lotion for sun care. Sun care requires adequate knowledge before it can be practiced. The user should take in to consideration his or her skin type and also the kind of environment in which he or she is residing. If the heat is exceedingly high, the person should use a sunscreen with a higher SPF and if the living destination is too cold , a lower SPF sun screen is fine. But one should keep in mind that it is harmful to go out in any kind of weather condition without sunscreen.
Sun Care involves several other steps. In case a person has been affected by the sun’s harmful UV rays and gets a sun burn, he or she should immediately rub ice and apply an anti burn lotion . As an alternative, one can also use carrot juice along with cucumber juice and lemon juice together and apply at the affected area. UV rays with its harmful properties often cause several skin problems, at times leading to fatal conditions. Hence an early sun care is absolutely necessary.
Sun care also involves the practice of ideal diet. A light and water based diet can also help in protection from the sun. The sun with its harmful rays sucks up all the water content from one’s body thus leaving the person dehydrated. Intake of water in a regular basis can help the [person to recover quickly from any kind of heat related problems. An ideal sun care routine involves several steps. Following is the summary of the steps which should be involved in order to keep oneself protected form the sun.
- Drink lots of water in order to keep the body hydrated always. If possible carry water.
- Use a sunscreen with SPF reading 15 and above depending upon the atmospheric condition of a particular area.
- Eat light diet and increase water content in diet as a part of sun care routine.
- In case of sun burns, the person can rush to the doctor or can apply a solution of lemon juice, cucumber juice, carrot juice and sandalwood powder.
- It is not ideal to drink water just after coming from the heat. The person should take some rest and then take water.
- 6. Wear light colored and light weighted clothes in order to avoid suffocation.
It not that difficult to keep oneself protected from the sun. All one has to do is to maintain the above mentioned points and abide by it as long as possible. And if possible one should contribute in reducing the environmental pollution which is adding up to the increasing intrusion of the run days directly in to the Earth’s atmosphere. Hence one should take care of himself as well as the environment as a part of sun care.
